With All New Be A Pro NHL 11 Climbs To New Peaks

Ice hockey has always been a popular computer game, and the EA series of NHL games have always led the way. But they have now pushed even further ahead of their competition, and with a mode like Be a Pro NHL 11 is close to being the perfect hockey video game.

Now part of almost all EA's sports titles, the Be a Pro mode is where you take control of just one player, in whatever position you would like, and take them through their career step-by-step. It is now a favorite mode in a number of popular games including the FIFA soccer series of game, the Madden American Football games and the of course in the basketball game NBA Live.

It is almost like a role-playing-game within a sports title, as you slowly but surely develop all of your player's skills and you progress through various stages of their career. Obviously with each title they vary slightly, depending on the sport and that is no different with Be a Pro NHL 11 style.

If you have a played a previous version of the NHL series, there have been a host of enhancements to the game including what they call a real-time physics engine, bringing an entirely new and realistic dimension to the game. There have been changes like a new face-off system, a new Hit Stick, quick dekes, hip checks and much more, including your hockey stick potentially breaking.

Perhaps though the most important new element to the Be a Pro mode is that you can now start your career playing junior league in the Canadian Hockey League's Memorial Cup. From there you can be scouted by NHL teams, before entering into the draft for the NHL. And of course once you get picked up in the draft, you are on the road to becoming the next Wayne Gretzky.

The idea of course is to get as much experience as possible and to perform well, that way you will slowly improve your player and improve his chances to go all the way. However getting on an NHL roster is no walk in the park and you may find your player having an interesting road getting there.

After battling in the the all-new Memorial Cup, your player will get drafted, and how you have performed will decide where you are in the draft. If you do extremely well you may find yourself a first round draft pick, and after a few pre-season games, if all goes according to plan, you could just be in the starting line-up for the NHL side that drafted you.

However a lower draft pick may not just walk onto that roster, and you may need to move for a bit before getting your shot at the big leagues. A stint in the American Hockey League might just be the answer. Each pro you play with could have a different adventure and that is part of the fun of the Be a Pro mode.

Of course NHL 11 offers so much more than just Be a Pro, including the fun Ultimate Team mode. There are thousands of online players playing the game every day, and you can even take your created player online to get more experience. But all the modes are great fun, and you can see why this game has won so many awards.
