Nepalese activists did demonstration

AP photos: a group of women activists Dhankuta held a protest demanding the authorities of Nepal imposed a heavy sentence to the rapist, following large protests in India in the same issue.

They demanded authorities investigate the death of a girl in a district here in October and revealed the identity of the rapist one child aged 12 years in Sindhuwa Bazaar, a month ago.

An activist, Sh Chemjong said they launched the protest because no action is taken to eliminate violence against women throughout Nepal. The protesters handed over a memorandum of demands to the Prime Minister, Baburam Bhattarai through District Administration Office here.

Women Association of Nepal also handed over a memorandum to the Government Office for claiming and ensuring the safety of judge stranger women throughout Nepal, the Himalayan Times newspaper report. -Agency
